In total, Russell Ductile has three foundries. All are situated on the Scunthorpe site, one foundry covers weights up to 7,000kg, and the other two covers weights up to 500kg.

What We Offer

Foundry Equipment


We use chemically bonded sand systems, foundries one and three use furan boned sand while our second foundry uses phenolic urethane.

Foundry 1

Furan binder, hand moulding in moulding boxes, 100–7,000kg casting weight in iron provided by 1x1t and 1x2t medium frequency electric melting furnaces. Floor moulded boxes up to 3.4m x 3.1m or 7m x 1.5m.

Foundry 2

Our second foundry includes; Phenolic urethane binder, boxless hand moulding up to 1.2m x 1.2m on loop line, 10kg-250kg casting weight in iron or steel provided by 2 x 2t medium frequency electric melting furnaces.

Foundry 3

The third and final foundry includes; Furan binder, hand moulding in moulding boxes up to 2m x 1.5m, 100kg - 1,000kg casting weight in iron or steel provided by shared melting facilities with DC2.

What We Offer

At Russell Ductile we offer a range of iron alloys including; SG and Grey, Compacted Graphite, NI-resist, Abrasion Resistant and Austenitic Iron. In addition to these metal castings, we also offer a wide range of steels including both carbon steel and stainless-steel castings up to 1,000kg in weight.

At Russell Ductile, our largest usable moulding footprint is approx. 3m x 3m; 7m x 1.5m Core making facilities utilising furan, phenolic urethane and cold box technologies in silica sand and specialist sands as required. Shell cores and 3D printed cores available via approved sub-contractors.
